Quick answers to the things you’re wondering

What is Socket and what does it do?
icon

Socket is a Matter-compatible smart light switch designed for Australian homes. It replaces your existing wall switch, giving you smart control of your existing lights through Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, or voice without hubs or complexity.

Does Socket work with my existing lights?
icon

Yes. Socket works with most standard lights, including LED, halogen, and incandescent fixtures, as long as they’re wired to a compatible switch circuit with a neutral connection.

Do I need a neutral wire?
icon

Yes. At this stage, our launch product Socket L requires a neutral wire for power. Most modern Australian homes (built after 1990s) have neutrals behind the switch, but if you’re unsure, an electrician can confirm.

Who can install it?
icon

Installation must be done by a licensed electrician, just like any other wall switch replacement. The process is quick — typically 10–15 minutes per switch.

Does it work with Apple Home and Google Home?
icon

Yes. Socket uses the Matter protocol over Wi-Fi, so it works natively with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and other Matter-compatible platforms. While many other devices on the market are labelled as "works with Siri", only Matter and HomeKit certified devices such as Socket truly work natively with Apple Home.

Do I need a hub?
icon

No hubs are required. Socket connects directly to your home network via Wi-Fi and integrates automatically with your chosen smart home platform.

What is Matter?
icon

Matter is a new smart-home standard backed by Apple, Google, Amazon, and others. It allows devices from different brands to work together seamlessly with no extra apps or brand lock-in.

How many buttons can I get?
icon

Socket comes in 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-gang versions, all with the same slim profile and tactile button design.

Is it safe for 240v?
icon

Absolutely. Socket is fully Australian-certified (RCM), includesgrounding, and supports both neutral and earth wiring for maximum safety.

Can I automate multiple switches?
icon

Yes — using the Tuya smart-home app, you can link switches, create scenes, or trigger other devices automatically. For example, one press could turn off all lights or start “movie mode.”

When will Socket be available?
icon

We’re preparing for launch soon. Join the waitlist to be the first to know when pre-orders open and receive early access pricing.

Can I trust Socket?
icon

Yes! We’re a real startup based in Brisbane, Australia. While we’re just getting started, we have big plans to grow and support our customers for the long term. We’re constantly listening to feedback and improving what we build. Expect ongoing support and a growing ecosystem of products in the future. Watch this space!
